Ohaga Ohaga is a Kenyan author, multimedia journalist, book editor, and communication scholar whose work sits at the intersection of storytelling, media accountability, and everyday African life. A university lecturer and scholar, his academic and commentary interests span political communication, media law, press freedom, and contemporary public affairs.
A veteran writer, Ohaga’s reporting and commentary have appeared across major African platforms, including The Daily Nation, The Standard, Citizen TV, African Arguments, The Citizen (Tanzania), Opinion Nigeria, and People’s Daily (Nigeria). He is a weekly columnist with The Kenya Times, writing on political discourse, press ethics, and social justice in East Africa.
As a literary voice, he is the author of The Below Average Life of Baba Zoya (2022), a work exploring family, displacement, and survival, catalogued internationally by the Cornell University Library, The New York Public Library, and the African Studies Centre Leiden. His latest work, Contemporary Proverbs of the Peasant and Other Teachings, blends observation, satire, and cultural philosophy into practical modern proverbs.
Truly African by descent, Luo by heritage, and “Chinese by debt,” Ohaga writes for ordinary people about ordinary life, driven by the conviction that there is often extraordinary wisdom hidden in both.
